Enrollment Mapped by Home Location: Fall 2014

How this works: By mapping the University of Minnesota Official Enrollment Home Location Code. The Home Location is either a Minnesota County, a US State, or Country. The enrollment data is normalized to the county, state or country population to more accurately show the regional impact of our campuses. The mapping is done using a Flash mapping package and will not work with Safari on iPhone/iPad. For more detailed enrollment data, view the Official Enrollment Statistics.

Notes & Data Sources:
  • Values used to create heat map normalized by taking Enrollment at a Location for the selected term / Total population of the area for the selected term.
  • Home Location is calculated at time of application. For non-US citizens we are using the students citizenship country instead of home location.
  • The percent change is calculated by taking the enrollment at a location for the selected term - the enrollment at a location for the last year or 5 years ago and then dividing by the enrollment for the selected term.
  • Enrollment data from the DW Official Enrollment (STIX) tables created by the Office of Institutional Research.
  • State and County population from the US Census Bureau Estimates website Link to an external file or site..
  • Country population data from the US Census Bureau International Data Base (IDB) Link to an external file or site..
  • The country map excludes students from the United States and the state map excludes students from Minnesota.
